Today was the International Edelstein Color Symposium, The Science & Art of Color, at Shenkar College of Engineering and Design.  We were picked up by bus at 8:00 am and the symposium began at 9:00 am with the opening lecture by John Hyman talking about the reality of colors; a most interesting talk on philosophy.  Later on in the day, Zvi Koren, symposium organizer and head of the Edelstein Center for Analysis of Ancient Artifacts, talked about his discover of the first authentic Biblical Blue Tekhelet.  Coverage of this appeared in the morning edition of the New York Times, http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/28/world/middleeast/28blue.html?_r=1&pagewanted=print.  Mary Virginia Orna presented her work on analysis of pigments from illuminated medieval manuscripts that led to the uncovering of a forgery and identified illuminators.  The talks were very eclectic and quite good.  At the end of the day we relaxed at the wine gala in the cafeteria before heading back to our hotels.
